Socializing/ being polite:

- Excuse me (before!) / I'm sorry (after!)

If you don't understand:

- (I beg your) pardon? / Can you repeat, please? / Can you speak more slowly, please?

- I don't understand / I didn't understand / I didn't catch that / I didn't hear you

- How do you spell it?/ Could you spell it, please? / Can you write it down for me, please?

 

First meeting :

- How do you do? (Formal) / - Pleased to meet you.

- I'm __(name)______ / This is __(name)______

- This is my luggage. Where shall I put my luggage? (in the boot !)

 

 

In the car while driving to your host family:

- (Put) your seatbelt (on)!

- How are you? ? I'm fine, thank you / I'm (a bit) tired.

- You must be tired. ? Yes, I am / It's okay. / I'm fine.

- Where are you from? ? I am / We are from Bourges, in the centre of France, south of Orléans.

When getting home, on the first evening:

Getting organized for the day:

- I will show you how to get to the meeting point.

Back home:

Telephoning:

Asking your way in the street:

- Excuse me, please. Could you tell me the way to ...?

Directions:

Saying goodbye:
